Afrikaans 1983
What Does This Mean?
This verse is from Jesus speaking to a church in Ephesus. He says they have stopped showing the love and passion for Him that they once had when they first started their faith journey.
Explained for Children
Imagine you really loved playing with your favorite toy at first, but now it doesn't excite you anymore. That's what Jesus is saying about this church; they've lost some of the excitement and love they used to have for Him.
Historical Background
The book of Revelation was written by John, one of Jesus' disciples, around 95 AD. He wrote this while in exile on Patmos island, addressing seven churches in Asia Minor about their spiritual condition.
Living It Out Today
Think about a time when you were really excited to start something new like school or a hobby but then lost interest over time. This verse reminds us to keep our initial enthusiasm and love for God strong as we grow older and face more challenges.
