Genesis 45:5
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
Joseph is speaking to his brothers, telling them not to be sad or angry for selling him into slavery because God had a greater plan, sending him ahead to save lives during a famine.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your friend accidentally broke your favorite toy, but then you found out it was a broken toy that was going to break anyway, and your friend bought you an even better one. Joseph is saying something similar to his brothers – even though they did a bad thing, God used it to help everyone.
Historical Background
This verse is from the Book of Genesis, written by Moses around 1440-1220 BCE. It's part of the story where Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers, ends up in Egypt and helps the family survive a famine.
Living It Out Today
Consider a scenario where someone at work misunderstands your project and causes a delay, but later, that delay helps you discover an even better approach. This verse teaches us to trust in God's plan, even when things seem negative at first.
