1 Chronicles 2:52
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
This verse lists the family of Shobal, who was the father of Kirjathjearim. His children included Haroeh and half of the Manahethites. It's part of the genealogical records in Chronicles.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a big family tree. Shobal was like the trunk of a tree, and he had children like branches. One of those branches was named Haroeh, and another part was shared with some people called the Manahethites.
Historical Background
The Book of Chronicles was written by an unknown author, possibly a priest or a scribe, sometime after the Babylonian exile, around the 5th century BC. It was written to give the post-exilic Jews a sense of their historical identity and to show how their past could inform their present and future.
Living It Out Today
Just as Shobal had a family that grew and branched out, our own families and communities also expand and change. This can remind us to stay connected with our roots and to embrace the diversity within our extended families and social circles.
