Acts 1:9
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes Jesus ascending into heaven right before the eyes of his disciples after he had finished speaking to them. A cloud took him out of their sight, showing that he was no longer physically present with them on earth.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing hide and seek, and your friend suddenly disappears behind a big fluffy cloud! That's what happened when Jesus went up into the sky after talking to his friends. They watched him go up until he disappeared from sight.
Historical Background
Acts 1 was written by Luke, likely around 60-80 AD for a broad audience of both Jewish and Gentile Christians. This passage reflects early Christian belief about Jesus' ascension, which is a significant event in their faith tradition.
Living It Out Today
Just as Jesus promised he would always be with his followers even after ascending to heaven, we can find comfort that our faith guides us, even when people or situations seem absent from our lives. This can apply to times of loneliness or loss where hope and belief sustain us.
