Colossians 3:1
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Colossians says that if we are with Christ and have been raised spiritually, we should focus on things in heaven where Christ is seated at God's right hand. It encourages Christians to set their minds on spiritual things rather than earthly ones.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing a game where the prize is up high on a shelf, not down low with all your toys. If Jesus has taken you up to that shelf and sits there, this verse tells us we should keep looking at those high prizes instead of the toys below!
Historical Background
This verse was written by Paul around AD 60-62 in his letter to the Colossian church. He wrote it to encourage them to live their lives with a heavenly focus despite living in a Roman world that valued earthly power and wealth.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, this could mean prioritizing your faith over chasing after material possessions or fame. For example, instead of spending money on the latest gadget, you might choose to give more generously to help others in need.
