Matthew 4:19
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
Jesus is talking to two fishermen and invites them to follow him, promising that he will make them 'fishers of men.' This means they'll gather people for God just like they catch fish.
Explained for Children
Imagine you love fishing with your dad. One day, Jesus says, 'Follow me, and I'll show you how to catch hearts instead of fish!' It's all about sharing the good news of Jesus with others, just like catching a big fish!
Historical Background
Matthew wrote this Gospel around AD 80-90 for Jewish Christians. The fishing metaphor would resonate deeply with people who understood fishing as a daily activity.
Living It Out Today
Today, someone might say to you, 'Join our team and help us spread kindness in the neighborhood.' Just like Jesus asked fishermen to leave their nets, he calls everyone to share the message of hope wherever they go.
