In this verse from Jonah, the sailors on a ship are trying to reach land but cannot because of the stormy sea. They row very hard, but the sea is too powerful against them.

Imagine you're in a boat during a big storm and you really want to get home. You paddle as fast as you can, but the waves are so strong that no matter how hard you try, you just can't make it to shore. That's what happened to Jonah’s shipmates.
السياق التاريخي
Jonah was written sometime between the late eighth and early sixth centuries BCE. The text is traditionally attributed to Jonah himself or a prophet who recorded his story for the Israelites. It reflects the belief in God's sovereignty over nature and all peoples, including those considered pagan by the Jews of that time.

Sometimes we face challenges where no matter how hard we try, things seem impossible due to circumstances beyond our control. Like the sailors in the storm, we need to acknowledge these limits and perhaps seek a deeper understanding or help from a higher power or community support.
