Zechariah 13:4
Awadhi
What Does This Mean?
This verse is from the prophet Zechariah and it says that in the future, false prophets will feel ashamed of their visions and won't use rough clothing to pretend they are holy.
Explained for Children
Imagine a person who tells lies about seeing things that aren’t real. One day, everyone will know these stories aren't true, and those people will be very embarrassed. They won't dress up in special clothes to trick others anymore.
Historical Background
Zechariah wrote this around 520-518 BCE during the Persian period when many Jews had returned from exile. This prophecy was directed towards a future where false prophets would no longer deceive people with their visions and appearances.
Living It Out Today
Today, we can apply this by being cautious of those who claim to have special knowledge or experiences that seem too good (or strange) to be true. Just like in Zechariah's time, it’s important not to be fooled by outward appearances or claims without evidence.
