What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's Gospel, Jesus tells the servants to fill large waterpots with water. They do as He says and fill them to the brim. This is part of the story where Jesus turns water into wine at a wedding feast.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're at a party and there’s not enough juice for everyone, so your friend asks you to fill up big cups with water instead. When you do that, something magical happens! That's what happened here too, but with Jesus turning the water into wine!
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written by the Apostle John around AD 90-100 for a broad Christian audience. It reflects a community well aware of Jewish customs and living in a predominantly Greco-Roman world.
Living It Out Today
When you follow instructions given to you, even if they seem unusual or impossible, you might be surprised by the outcomes. For instance, when your boss asks you to do something that seems out of place but ends up turning into a big project success!
