Galatians 5:11
Cebuano CBV
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Galatians, Paul says that if he were still preaching about the need for circumcision to follow Christ, there would be no reason for him to face persecution anymore. He is emphasizing that teaching about the cross and its message of salvation through faith alone is what causes opposition.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing a game where everyone needs to wear red hats to join in. But then someone comes along saying you don't need the hat at all; you can play just by agreeing to follow the rules. That person might get into trouble for changing the game, like Paul did when he said we don’t need to be circumcised to follow Jesus.
Historical Background
This verse is from a letter written by Paul in the mid-first century AD to the Galatians, who were new believers. At that time, some Jewish Christians believed that Gentiles had to become Jews first (through circumcision) before they could fully join the Christian faith. This created tension and conflict within the early church.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse reminds us of the importance of standing firm in our beliefs even when it's not easy. For example, if you're at school and your friends are pressuring you to do something against your values or religious convictions, remember that staying true to what you believe can sometimes mean facing challenges.
