Joshua 18:9
Czech SNC
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, a group of men have finished mapping the land of Canaan and have divided it into seven parts. They wrote down their findings in a book and returned to Joshua at the camp in Shiloh to give him this information.
Explained for Children
Imagine you and your friends are exploring a big park to find the best spots for a picnic. You draw a map and mark seven special areas. Then, you come back to show your teacher where these great spots are. That's what these men did with the land they explored for Joshua.
Historical Background
Joshua 18:9 is part of the Book of Joshua, written by Joshua or possibly later authors to document the Israelites' conquest and settlement in Canaan. This book was written around the 14th century BCE, and the audience was the Israelites who were preparing to settle in their promised land.
Living It Out Today
Today, when we take on a new project or move to a new place, we often explore and map out the area or the tasks involved. Just like the men in the verse, we gather information and plan our steps carefully to ensure we make the best use of our resources.
