Estonian EEP
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Luke says that even after doing all the things we are supposed to do, we should still see ourselves as just fulfilling our duties and not deserving of extra praise. Jesus is speaking here, emphasizing humility.
Explained for Children
Imagine you helped your mom clean up the house and she asked for it. After finishing, she tells you that's what you're supposed to do because it's part of being in the family. This verse reminds us that we shouldn't expect a big reward when we just do our jobs.
Historical Background
The Gospel of Luke was written by Luke, a doctor and close companion of Paul, around AD 60-75 for a Roman audience. It presents Jesus as the Messiah who brings salvation to all people, including non-Jews.
Living It Out Today
Think about your job or volunteer work today. Even if you do an excellent job, remember that it is part of what's expected from you and stay humble in acknowledging it.
