Luke 6:8
Estonian EEP
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Luke's Gospel, Jesus knows the thoughts of those around Him and tells a man with a withered hand to stand up in front of everyone. He does so, showing that Jesus is aware of everything and can heal people.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you knew what your friends were thinking without them saying anything! That's like Jesus here. He sees someone who needs help and asks him to come forward, just like when a teacher calls on you in class because they know you have something important to share.
Historical Background
Luke, a doctor and companion of Paul, wrote this Gospel around the year 60 AD for a Gentile audience. The culture was heavily influenced by Roman law and Jewish customs, making Jesus' actions stand out as both radical and healing in a time of strict rules about what could be done on the Sabbath.
Living It Out Today
In today’s world, we can apply this verse when we encounter someone who is being overlooked or ignored. Just like Jesus, we can call them forward and give them an opportunity to share their story or receive help they need.
