یوشع به سرکردگان قبیلۀ رؤبین و جاد و نیم قبیلۀ مَنَسّی خاطرنشان کرده گفت: «کلام موسی، خدمتگار خداوند را بیاد داشته باشید که فرمود: «خداوند، خدای شما سرزمینی را که در شرق اُردن است به شما می دهد که وطن و خانۀ تان باشد.» با زنها، اطفال و گله و رمۀ تان به آسودگی در آن زندگی کنید. اما مردان مسلح تان باید آماده برای جنگ، پیشاپیش قوم خود از دریا عبور کنند تا با آن ها در مورد تصرف آن سرزمین کمک نمایند.
