Le Seigneur accrut au plus haut point le prestige de Salomon, aux yeux de tout Israël. Il accorda à son règne une splendeur qui dépassait celle de ses prédécesseurs sur le trône d'Israël. C'est une ambiance de fête qui prévaut ici. Des sacrifices sont offerts au Seigneur et se poursuivent par un grand repas où tous mangent abondamment. Ce temps de festivité est présenté comme se déroulant sous le regard de Dieu. Salomon est choisi comme roi selon la volonté de Dieu, mais l'autorité royale est au service de Dieu. C'est Dieu qui accorde à Salomon sa bénédiction. L'expression « pour la seconde fois » (v. 22) fait allusion à la première désignation de Salomon comme roi en 23.1.
