Isaiah 58:4
French (La Bible expliquée)
Que signifie ce verset ?
This verse is from the Prophet Isaiah, who is telling people that their fasting is not real because they are fighting and arguing while they fast. He says they should not fast like this because it's not sincere and is not pleasing to God.
Expliqué aux enfants
Imagine you're fasting to show how much you love your mom, but you're also fighting with your sister. That's not a good way to fast. God wants you to fast because you really love him, not just to say you're doing it.
Contexte historique
Isaiah, a prophet in the Old Testament, wrote this around 700 BCE to the people of Judah. He was addressing a community where fasting was common but not always sincere, and he was calling them to true repentance and genuine faith.
Application pour aujourd'hui
Today, if you're fasting but still being mean to your family or friends, that fasting isn't really about God. It's important to fast with a sincere heart, not just to show off or to feel good about yourself.
