J'étais félicité par ceux qui m'entendaient; Les souvenirs de Job sont centrés sur lui-même. Tout tourne à sa seule gloire. En énumérant les bénéficiaires de sa bienfaisance, Job contredit Élifaz. Ce dernier l'avait accusé de dépasser la mesure en prenant pour gage le manteau de son prochain (22.6) et d'abandonner les veuves et les orphelins (22.9). Or, le respect pour le droit lui servait de manteau et il secourait l'orphelin tout comme il mettait un peu de joie au cœur de la veuve. en me voyant, tous m'assuraient de leur estime:
