Galatians 5:4
French (La Sainte Bible par Louis Segond 1910)
Que signifie ce verset ?
This verse from Galatians says that if you rely on following the law to be right with God, then Jesus' work has no effect for you and you lose the grace he offers. Paul is speaking here, warning believers about this.
Expliqué aux enfants
Imagine if your mom baked a delicious cake for you but you said you would only eat it if you cleaned your room first. The cake was meant to be a gift just because she loves you, not as a reward for chores. That’s like saying Jesus’ gift doesn’t matter unless we earn it with our good deeds.
Contexte historique
Paul wrote this letter to the Galatians in around AD 50-53. The Galatian churches were struggling with the question of whether new Gentile Christians needed to follow Jewish law, specifically circumcision. This was a major cultural and religious issue at the time.
Application pour aujourd'hui
A modern scenario could be a person who feels they need to earn God's favor through good works or strict adherence to rules rather than accepting Jesus' grace freely given. This mindset can lead them away from true faith in Jesus.
