Jeremiah 52:1
Hebrew Bible Modern 1977
What Does This Mean?
Jeremiah 52:1 tells us about King Zedekiah, who was 21 years old when he became king and ruled for 11 years. It also mentions that his mother was named Hamutal and was the daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're starting a new game, and you're the leader. Zedekiah was like that, but he was the leader of a whole city! He was only 21 when he became the king, and he was in charge for 11 years. Just like how you might know your mom's name, we also learn the name of Zedekiah's mom, Hamutal.
Historical Background
Jeremiah, the prophet, wrote this verse. It was written around 586 BCE during a time when Judah was facing significant challenges from the Babylonians. The audience would have been the people of Judah, who were dealing with the consequences of their actions and the fall of Jerusalem.
Living It Out Today
Think of a time when you were put in charge of something important. Zedekiah's story can remind us that being a leader at a young age can be challenging. It's important to be wise and seek good advice, much like Zedekiah could have done.
