What Does This Mean?
In this verse, Jesus is praying to God the Father. He asks that the time has come for him to be glorified so he can in turn bring glory to his Father.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're playing a game with your dad and it's almost your turn to win. You tell your dad, 'It's my turn now. Please let me win so I can show everyone how well we play together,' just like Jesus is asking God to let him do his special job so he can show the world how great God is.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written by John, one of Jesus' disciples, around 90-100 AD. This prayer occurs during Jesus' last night with his followers before his crucifixion and highlights the close relationship between Jesus and God.
