1 Samuel 27:3
Armenian Eastern Bible 1994
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that David and his men, along with their families, moved to the city of Gath and lived there under the protection of Achish, the king of Gath. David brought his two wives, Ahinoam and Abigail, with him.
Explained for Children
Imagine David is like a family moving to a new city to find a safer place to live. He brings his whole family, including his two moms, to this new city called Gath.
Historical Background
1 Samuel was written by Samuel, Nathan, and Gad, around 930-735 BCE. It was written for the Israelites to remember their history and God's actions in their lives. This verse is set in a time when David, before becoming king, was hiding from King Saul and sought refuge in a Philistine city.
Living It Out Today
Just like David sought a safe place for his family, we can sometimes need to find a safe and supportive environment to protect our loved ones and ourselves. This might mean changing our job, neighborhood, or even a relationship.
