Leviticus 7:18
Armenian Eastern Bible 1994
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Leviticus says that if someone eats the meat of a peace offering on the third day after the sacrifice, it will not be accepted by God. God considers it an abomination, and the person eating it will be guilty. It's a rule about when to consume sacrificial meat to ensure it is holy.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a special treat to share with your family after church. But if you wait too long and eat it a few days later, it's like the treat lost its specialness. God doesn't like it when we don't follow the rules about when to eat these special treats.
Historical Background
This verse was written by Moses around 1446-1406 BCE. It was part of the laws given to the Israelites after their exodus from Egypt. The Israelites needed to follow these rules to ensure their sacrifices were accepted by God.
Living It Out Today
Today, this verse reminds us to be mindful of deadlines and to follow the rules God has set for us. For example, if you promise to pray with a friend at a certain time, it’s important to keep that promise and not delay, or the spiritual significance might be lost.
