What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that Andrew found his brother Simon and told him they had discovered the Messiah, who is also called Christ. This means they found Jesus, who was expected by many to be a special leader sent from God.
Explained for Children
Imagine you find out about an amazing new toy everyone has been waiting for. You run home and tell your brother, 'We found it! We finally got the toy we've all wanted!' That's what Andrew did with Simon when they met Jesus.
Historical Background
The Gospel of John was written by John, one of Jesus' disciples. It was composed around AD 90-100 for a community of early Christians who were familiar with Jewish traditions but also needed reassurance about their faith in Christ.
