요단 강가의 숲속에서 갑자기 사자가 튀어나와 초원을 달리며 먹이를 쫓듯이 나도 갑자기 에돔 벌판에 나타나서 에돔 백성을 몰아내겠다. 그때에 누가 달아나지 않을 수 있겠느냐? 에돔 땅에서 모든 사람이 달아나고 나면 내가 이미 그 땅을 다스리도록 선택해 놓은 자를 세워 그 나라의 왕으로 삼겠다. 이럴 경우에 누가 내 앞에 나서서 내게 책임을 물을 수 있겠느냐? 내게 저항하고 나설 수 있는 통치자가 어디에 있겠느냐?'
