Galatians 2:5
Latin - Vulgate Version
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Galatians says that Paul and his companions didn't let others dominate them, even for a short time, because they wanted to make sure the true message of the gospel reached and stayed with you all.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you were playing a game where someone tried to change the rules just so they could win. Paul is saying he wouldn’t let that happen with the message about Jesus, because then it might not be right anymore.
Historical Background
This verse was written by the Apostle Paul around AD 50-53 to the Galatian churches. He wrote this during a time when there were debates within these early Christian communities about how to follow Jesus and if certain old Jewish laws still applied.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, we can apply this verse when others try to change our beliefs or values for their own benefit. We must stand firm in what we know is true and right, especially if it affects those around us.
