En sang ved festreisene. Herre, tenk på David, på all den møye han holdt ut!

Han sverget Herren en ed, gav Jakobs Veldige et løfte:

«Jeg går ikke inn i min bolig og legger meg ikke på mitt leie,
4
jeg unner meg ikke blund på øynene, lar ikke øyelokkene få hvile
5
før jeg har funnet et sted for Herren, en bolig for Jakobs Veldige.»

Vi hørte om paktkisten i Efrata, vi fant den på Ja'ar-markene.
7
Kom, la oss gå til Herrens bolig og kaste oss ned for hans fotskammel!
8
Reis deg, Herre, og kom til det sted hvor du slår deg til ro, du og din veldes paktkiste.
9
Dine prester skal være kledd i rettferd, og de som holder din pakt, skal juble.
10
Vis ikke bort din salvede, for din tjener Davids skyld.
11
Herren har sverget David en ed, et pålitelig ord, som han ikke går fra: «Menn som er av din ætt, vil jeg sette på din trone.
12
Hvis dine sønner holder min pakt og den lov som jeg vil lære dem, så skal også deres sønner for alltid sitte på din trone.»

For Herren har utvalgt Sion, som han vil ha til bolig:

«Dette skal være mitt hvilested for alltid, her vil jeg bo, det er mitt ønske.
15
Maten på Sion vil jeg velsigne, og de fattige vil jeg mette med brød.
16
Sions prester kler jeg med frelse, og de fromme skal rope av fryd.
17
Der lar jeg Davids-ætten få makt, jeg gjør en lampe i stand for min salvede.
18
Hans fiender vil jeg kle med skam, men på hans hode skal kronen stråle.»
