En Davids-salme. Herre, hør min bønn, lytt til min inderlige bønn. Svar meg, du som er trofast og rettferdig!

Stevn ikke meg, din tjener, for retten! For ingen som lever, er rettferdig for deg.

Fienden forfølger meg, slår meg til jorden og knuser meg. Han lar meg sitte i stummende mørke, lik dem som for lengst er døde.

Min ånd er uten kraft, mitt hjerte stivner i brystet.

Jeg minnes gamle dager, jeg tenker på alle dine gjerninger og grunner på det verk du har gjort.

Jeg rekker hendene ut mot deg, jeg lengter etter deg som jorden tørster etter vann.

Skynd deg å svare meg, Herre, ellers går min ånd til grunne. Skjul ikke ditt ansikt for meg, ellers blir jeg lik dem som er gått i sin grav.

La meg høre om din miskunn om morgenen, for jeg setter min lit til deg! Lær meg å kjenne den vei jeg skal gå, for jeg løfter min sjel til deg.

Fri meg fra mine fiender, Herre, jeg søker tilflukt hos deg!

Lær meg å gjøre din vilje, for du er min Gud! Din gode Ånd skal lede meg på de jevne stier.

Hold meg i live, Herre, til ære for ditt navn! Før meg i din rettferd ut av trengselen!

Utrydd mine fiender, du som er trofast; gjør ende på alle mine motstandere! For jeg er jo din tjener.
