Herre, min Gud, eg flyr til deg. Frels meg og fri meg ¬frå alle som jagar meg,

så dei ikkje, liksom ei løve riv meg sund og dreg meg bort – utan at nokon bergar.

Herre, min Gud, har eg fare så at det er urett i mine hender,

har eg gjort vondt mot min ven og rana min motstandar ¬utan grunn,

så lat fienden jaga og nå meg, trakka meg levande til jorda og kasta mi ære i støvet.

Reis deg, Herre, i din vreide, stå opp mot dei ¬som rasar imot meg! Vakna, min Gud, ¬du som stemner til doms.

Lat skaren av folkeslag ¬samlast ikring deg, og ta ditt sete høgt over dei!
9
Herre, du som dømer folka, hjelp meg til min rett, for eg er rettvis og heil i mi ferd.
10
Gjer ende på vondskapen ¬åt dei gudlause, men lat den rettferdige ¬verta ståande! Du som prøver hjarto ¬og nyrer, du er ein rettferdig Gud.

Gud er mitt vernande skjold, han frelser dei ærlege av hjarta.
12
Gud er ein rettferdig domar, ein Gud ¬som feller dom kvar dag.
13
Sanneleg, ¬fienden kvesser atter sverdet, spenner bogen og siktar.
14
Men sjølv vert han råka ¬av dei drepande våpen og dei brennande piler ¬han steller til.
15
Sjå, han er svanger ¬med vondskap, har avla udåd og føder svik.
16
Han har grave eit hol ¬og gjort det djupt, men sjølv fell han ned ¬i den grava han grov.
17
Den udåden han har tenkt ut, kjem over hans eige hovud, valdsferda råkar ¬hans eigen skalle.
18
Eg prisar Herren ¬for hans rettferd og lovsyng namnet åt Herren, ¬Den Høgste.
