Ezekiel 17:20
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking and promises to capture someone who has trespassed against Him. God will bring this person to Babylon and hold them accountable for their actions there.
Explained for Children
Imagine a game of hide and seek where God says, 'I will find you and bring you to a special place to talk about the rules you broke.' That's what God is doing here, but with a very serious matter.
Historical Background
Ezekiel wrote this verse around 593-571 BC while in exile in Babylon. The audience was the exiled Israelites, and the cultural setting was one of captivity and questioning of God's justice and presence.
Living It Out Today
In a modern scenario, if someone in a leadership position misuses their power, this verse reminds us that there will be a time for accountability, no matter how hidden their actions are.
