John 13:1
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us that before the Passover feast, Jesus knew his time was near to leave this world and go back to heaven. Despite knowing this, he loved his disciples very much until the end.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a best friend who knows they're going away soon but still spends all their free time playing with you and taking care of you. That's what Jesus did for his friends before he left.
Historical Background
John, one of Jesus' disciples, wrote this passage around 90 AD to a community of Christians who needed encouragement and teaching on love and truth. The Passover was an important Jewish festival celebrating the Israelites' freedom from slavery in Egypt.
Living It Out Today
This verse teaches us that no matter what challenges we face or how much time we have left, true love is always about putting others first. For example, if you know a friend is moving away soon and might be sad, spend extra time with them to show your care and support.
