Jonah 1:2
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking to Jonah and instructing him to go to Nineveh, a large city, because its people have done many bad things that have reached God's attention.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a friend who keeps doing naughty things. One day, your parents tell you that you need to talk to this friend about their behavior. That’s what God is asking Jonah to do with the city of Nineveh—tell them they’re doing wrong and need to change.
Historical Background
Jonah was written by the prophet Jonah around 750 BC, directed at the Israelites. The city of Nineveh was a significant Assyrian capital known for its wickedness. This verse reflects God's concern over widespread sin and His call for repentance.
Living It Out Today
Today, this could apply to when someone in your community is doing something wrong but refusing to see it. Like Jonah, you might be asked by God or others to speak up about the issue, even if it’s uncomfortable.
