Luke 1:15
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes the future of John the Baptist. He will be great in God's eyes, he won't drink alcohol, and he'll have the Holy Spirit from before he was born. It’s a promise about how special John would be.
Explained for Children
Imagine you’re promised to become really amazing at something you love, like drawing or sports, even before you're born! That's what God promised for John. He'd also not drink anything that makes grown-ups silly, and he’d have a super helper called the Holy Spirit inside him from the start.
Historical Background
Luke wrote this in his Gospel around 60-85 AD. It was addressed to early Christians who were familiar with Jewish traditions but needed reassurance about Jesus' mission. The setting reflects a time of transition and anticipation for the coming Messiah.
Living It Out Today
This verse can remind us that God plans great things for each person from before birth. We see this in how parents prepare for their children's futures, hoping they will excel and make good choices without harmful habits.
