Luke 12:37
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse from Luke says that Jesus is speaking and talking about servants who are watching for their master's return. The master will reward them by serving them himself, showing how blessed they are for being faithful.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your parents came home and saw you cleaning the house while they were away. They would be so happy that they might want to give you a big dinner and make sure you're comfortable. Jesus is saying it's like that when we do our best to watch out for him.
Historical Background
The Gospel of Luke was written by Luke, a doctor and companion of Paul, around 80-100 AD. It was directed at Gentile (non-Jewish) Christians who were seeking guidance on how to live faithful lives amidst persecution.
Living It Out Today
In modern terms, if you're always ready for unexpected opportunities or challenges in your life because you've been prepared and watching, then when the time comes, those opportunities will come back to benefit you greatly.
