Luke 18:14
Ndebele Bible - 2010
What Does This Mean?
This verse is from Jesus teaching about humility versus pride. He says the humble person goes home justified before God, not the one who thinks he's better than others. It means anyone who humbles themselves will be lifted up by God.
Explained for Children
Imagine two kids at school - one shows off how smart they are while the other listens quietly and learns from others. Jesus says the kid who listens quietly is seen as good by God, not the show-off. Being humble makes you special to God!
Historical Background
Luke wrote this gospel around 80-100 AD for a broader audience including Gentiles. This story was likely told in response to Pharisees' self-righteous attitudes and their disdain for tax collectors and sinners.
Living It Out Today
Consider when you're at work or school. Instead of bragging about your achievements, try listening more to others and acknowledging their strengths. You'll gain respect and be seen as a better team member by being humble.
