Explained for Children
Imagine you have a lemonade stand, and your friend brings you lots of lemons and sugar to help make more lemonade for everyone. That’s what Joanna, Susanna, and other ladies did for Jesus—they used their money to help him do his important work.
Historical Background
Luke wrote this verse in the Gospel of Luke around 60-80 AD. He was writing primarily to Gentile Christians who needed to understand the life and teachings of Jesus from a historical perspective. The cultural setting reflects early Christian communities supporting their leaders financially.
Living It Out Today
In today's context, think about how you can support those doing good in your community—whether it’s donating money to a charity or volunteering time to help someone in need. This verse encourages us all to use what we have to benefit others and spread God’s message.
