Oração dum infeliz, que na sua miséria manifesta a sua angústia diante do Senhor.

Senhor, escuta a minha oração e aceita o meu clamor!
3
Não desvies de mim o teu olhar, quando estou angustiado; digna-te escutar o meu lamento! Responde-me depressa, quando te invocar!
4
Porque os dias da minha vida desaparecem como fumo; o meu corpo arde como um braseiro.
5
Qual erva cortada, o meu coração está ressequido; nem vontade tenho de comer o meu pão!
6
De tanto gemer fiquei reduzido a pele e osso.
7
Sou como uma ave selvagem no deserto, como um mocho em ruínas abandonadas.
8
Não consigo dormir e assim fico, como um pássaro em cima dum telhado.
9
Os meus inimigos ofendem-me sem cessar e furiosos rogam pragas contra mim.
10
Em vez de pão, tenho comido cinza; e a minha bebida mistura-se com as lágrimas,
11
por causa da tua ira e da tua indignação; fizeste-me subir, para depois me desprezares.
12
Os dias da minha vida são como a sombra que avança e eu vou secando como a erva.
13
Mas tu, Senhor, és rei para sempre; o teu nome será sempre lembrado!
14
Ergue-te, Senhor, tem piedade de Sião; já é tempo de lhe perdoares! Sim, chegou a hora!
15
Os teus servos amam as suas pedras, têm pena das suas ruínas.
16
Todas as nações e os reis da terra respeitarão o nome glorioso do Senhor,
17
quando ele reconstruir Sião e se lhe manifestar na sua glória;
18
quando escutar a oração do desamparado e não rejeitar os seus rogos.
19
Que isto fique escrito para as gerações futuras, para que louvem o Senhor os que ainda hão de nascer.
20
O Senhor observa do alto do seu santuário; lá do céu ele olha para a terra,
21
para escutar os lamentos dos prisioneiros e libertar os condenados à morte.
22
Em Sião será anunciado o nome do Senhor e em Jerusalém ouvir-se-ão os seus louvores,
23
quando os povos de todas as nações se reunirem para adorar o Senhor.
24
Ele tirou-me as forças a meio do caminho, abreviou a minha vida.
25
Eu pedi: «Meu Deus, não me leves a meio da vida!» Os teus anos, Senhor, não têm fim!
26
Fundaste a terra desde o princípio; tu próprio criaste os céus.
27
Eles deixarão de existir, mas tu permanecerás. Como uma peça de vestuário, vão-se gastando e serão mudados como quem muda de roupa!
28
Mas tu és sempre o mesmo; os teus anos não têm fim.
29
Os descendentes dos teus servos hão de viver tranquilos e seguros junto de ti.
