Bendiz ó minha alma o Senhor! Como és grande, Senhor, meu Deus! De esplendor e majestade te revestiste;
2
estás envolto num manto de luz e estendeste os céus como um véu.
3
Fixaste a tua morada mais alto do que os céus. As nuvens servem-te de carro e viajas sobre as asas do vento!
4
Usas os ventos como teus mensageiros e os relâmpagos como teus servos.
5
Assentaste a terra sobre bases firmes, para que ela se mantenha segura.
6
Cobriste-a com o mar profundo, como um manto, e as águas mantinham-se por cima das montanhas,
7
mas tu repreendeste-as e elas fugiram, estremeceram ao ouvir a tua voz no trovão.
8
Subiram montanhas, desceram vales, até ao lugar que lhes determinaste,
9
até aos limites que lhes proibiste ultrapassar, para que o mar não volte a cobrir a terra.
10
Tu envias a água das nascentes para os rios que correm entre as montanhas.
11
Dessa água bebem os animais selvagens e nela matam a sede os veados dos montes.
12
Nas margens dos rios fazem ninho as aves do céu; ali chilreiam entre a folhagem!
13
Da tua morada, lá no alto, regas os montes; sacias a terra com a bênção da chuva.
14
Fazes crescer os pastos para os animais e as plantas que os homens cultivam, para da terra tirarem o alimento:
15
o vinho, que lhes alegra o coração, o azeite, que lhes faz brilhar o rosto e o pão que lhes robustece as forças.
16
Matam a sua sede os cedros do Líbano e até as maiores árvores que o Senhor plantou.
17
Ali fazem ninho os passarinhos e nos ciprestes tem a cegonha a sua casa.
18
Os altos montes são refúgio para as cabras e os rochedos abrigam os animais roedores.
19
Fizeste a Lua para medir o tempo; e o Sol sabe quando deve esconder-se.
20
Estendes o manto escuro e faz-se noite, saindo então os animais dos bosques.
21
Rugem os leões, em busca da presa, pedindo a Deus o seu alimento.
22
Mas quando nasce o sol, logo se retiram, para se recolherem nos seus covis.
23
É então que o homem sai para o trabalho e faz a sua lida até anoitecer.
24
Senhor, tu fizeste tantas coisas e tudo com tanta sabedoria! A terra está cheia daquilo que tu criaste!
25
Lá está o mar, grande e vasto, onde se movem imensos animais, animais grandes e pequenos.
26
Nele passam os navios e ali brinca o Leviatã, monstro marinho que nele criaste.
27
Todos esperam de ti que lhes dês comida a seu tempo.
28
És tu que lhes dás a comida que eles recolhem; abres a tua mão e ficam saciados do que é bom.
29
Se lhes voltas a cara, ficam perturbados; se lhes tiras o alento, morrem e voltam de novo a ser pó.
30
Se lhes envias o teu espírito, voltam à vida. Assim dás nova vida à terra.
31
A glória do Senhor é eterna! Que o Senhor se alegre com aquilo que criou!
32
A terra treme, quando o Senhor olha para ela; os montes fumegam, quando ele lhes toca.
33
Cantarei ao Senhor toda a minha vida; louvarei o meu Deus, enquanto existir.
34
Que o meu cântico seja agradável ao Senhor, pois só nele encontro a minha alegria.
35
Que desapareçam da terra os pecadores! Que deixem de existir os que praticam o mal! Quero louvar o Senhor com toda a minha alma! Aleluia!
