Senhor, não me repreendas com a tua ira, nem me castigues com o teu furor.

Feriste-me com as tuas setas e atiraste-me por terra.

No meu corpo, não ficou nada são; dos meus ossos não ficou nenhum inteiro, por causa da tua ira, por causa das minhas culpas.

Estou afogado no mar dos meus pecados; eles são carga pesada demais para mim.

As minhas chagas são fétidas e purulentas, por causa da minha loucura.

Ando cabisbaixo e deprimido, caminho todo o dia na tristeza.

Estou a arder de febre; tenho todo o corpo doente!

Estou fraco e muito quebrado; grito alto as queixas do meu coração!

Senhor, tu conheces todos os meus desejos; os meus suspiros não são segredo para ti!

O meu coração palpita muito; faltam-me as forças. Até a luz dos olhos, infelizmente, me falta.
12
Os meus amigos e companheiros afastam-se da minha desgraça; os meus parentes conservam-se à distância.
13
Os que me querem matar preparam-me armadilhas; pronunciam insultos os que querem o meu mal; a toda a hora maquinam traições.
14
Eu, porém, faço-me surdo e não dou ouvidos; faço-me mudo e não abro a boca.

Sou como aquele que não ouve, e não pode falar em sua defesa.

Pois eu confio em ti, Senhor, e tu me respondes, Senhor, meu Deus.
17
Uma coisa te peço: não permitas que se riam da minha desgraça; não deixes que zombem vitoriosos da minha queda.
18
Na verdade, estou prestes a tropeçar; a minha dor não me larga um momento.
19
Vou confessar os meus pecados, porque eles enchem-me de inquietação.
20
Os meus inimigos mortais são poderosos; são muitos os que me odeiam sem razão.
21
Eles pagam-me o bem com o mal e voltam-se contra mim, quando eu procuro fazer o bem.
22
Senhor, não me desampares! Meu Deus, não te afastes de mim!

Vem depressa em meu auxílio, Senhor, meu salvador!
