Salva-me, ó Deus, porque estou quase a afogar-me;

estou a afundar-me num pântano profundo, não tenho onde apoiar os pés. Vim parar em águas muito fundas e a corrente está a arrastar-me.

Estou rouco de gritar, dói-me a garganta; os meus olhos cansaram-se de esperar, ó meu Deus!

São mais os que me odeiam sem razão do que os cabelos da minha cabeça; mais numerosos são ainda os inimigos que mentem contra mim. Terei então de restituir aquilo que não roubei?

Tu, ó Deus, conheces bem a minha insensatez; não posso esconder de ti as minhas culpas.

Que não passem vergonha por minha causa os que confiam em ti, ó Senhor, Deus todo-poderoso. Que aqueles que te procuram não fiquem desiludidos comigo, ó Deus de Israel.
8
Por amor de ti tenho sofrido insultos; a minha cara cobriu-se de vergonha.
9
Sou como um estranho para os meus irmãos; sou um desconhecido para os filhos da minha mãe.
10
O zelo da tua casa me consome; as ofensas dos que te insultam caíram sobre mim.
11
Mesmo quando eu choro e jejuo eles fazem troça de mim;
12
mesmo quando me visto de luto eles escarnecem de mim.
13
Falam de mim pelas ruas da cidade e os bêbedos cantam cantigas sobre mim.
14
Eu, porém, Senhor, dirijo-me a ti em oração; responde-me, ó Deus, quando achares oportuno, responde-me, pelo teu grande amor! Tu que és ajuda fiel,
15
tira-me do lodo para que não me afunde! Salva-me dos que me odeiam e das águas profundas!
16
Não deixes que a corrente me arraste; não deixes que o abismo me engula, nem que a boca do poço se feche sobre mim!
17
Responde-me, Senhor, porque o teu amor é bondade; olha para mim, pela tua grande compaixão.
18
Não desvies o olhar deste teu servo; responde-me depressa, porque estou em perigo!
19
Aproxima-te de mim e salva-me; livra-me dos meus inimigos!
20
Tu sabes as ofensas, a vergonha e a desonra, que sofri; tu conheces os meus inimigos!
21
As ofensas e a doença despedaçam-me o coração. Esperei compaixão de alguém, mas foi em vão; não encontrei ninguém que me confortasse.
22
Deram-me fel, em vez de comida e, quando tive sede, deram-me vinagre.
23
Que os seus banquetes se transformem em armadilha, para ele e para os seus convidados.
24
Escurece-lhes a vista, para que não vejam; enfraquece-lhes os músculos, para que tremam.
25
Descarrega sobre eles a tua indignação; sejam atingidos pelo furor da tua ira!
26
Que o seu acampamento fique deserto e que não haja quem habite nas suas tendas,
27
pois perseguem aqueles que tu castigaste e troçam das dores dos que tu feriste.
28
Deixa que aumentem o rol dos seus pecados e não permitas que alcancem o teu perdão.
29
Risca-os do livro da vida! Não os ponhas na lista dos justos!
30
Mas a mim, que estou aflito e triste, levanta-me, ó Deus, e salva-me.
31
Louvarei com cânticos o nosso Deus; glorificá-lo-ei, com ações de graças.
32
Isto será mais agradável para o Senhor do que sacrifícios de touros e novilhos.
33
Que os humildes vejam isto e se alegrem e os que procuram a Deus se encham de coragem,
34
porque o Senhor escuta os necessitados e não despreza o seu povo na aflição.
35
Louvem o Senhor os céus e a terra, o mar e todos os seres que o habitam!
36
Na verdade, Deus há de restaurar Sião, e reconstruir as cidades de Judá, e hão de regressar os que tinham sido expulsos.
37
Os descendentes dos seus servos são herdeiros de Sião e lá hão de habitar aqueles que o amam.
