Potom mi zaznelo slovo Hospodina:

Človeče, o čo je vinič lepší než iné stromy a ratolesť viniča lepšia než stromy lesa?

Možno vziať z neho drevo a použiť ho na náradie? Či vezmú z neho kolík na zavesenie náčinia?

Veru, ohňu sa dáva na strávenie. Keď oheň strávil oba jeho konce a jeho stred zotlel, či je ešte súci na niečo?

Veď ani kým bol celý, nedal sa použiť na nič. O to menej sa potom môže použiť na niečo, keď ho strávil oheň a keď zotlel.

Preto Hospodin, Pán hovorí toto: Ako som medzi stromami lesa urobil s viničom to, že som ho dal ohňu na strávenie, tak som urobil s obyvateľmi Jeruzalema.

Upriem svoju tvár proti nim: dostanú sa z ohňa, ale oheň ich pohltí! Potom spoznáte, že ja som Hospodin, keď obrátim svoju tvár proti vám.

Potom krajinu zmením na pustatinu, pretože sa dopúšťali nevernosti — znie výrok Hospodina, Pána.
