What Does This Mean?
This verse from the book of Isaiah warns against people who keep buying more and more land, until there's no space left for others. They want everything for themselves, leaving others with nothing. The speaker is warning them that this greed will bring them trouble.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you kept buying more and more toys, until you didn't have room for anything else and didn't leave any toys for your friends. This verse is like a warning to people who are so greedy that they take everything, leaving nothing for others.
Historical Background
Isaiah, a prophet, wrote this around 700 BC to the people of Israel. The audience was wealthy landowners who were consolidating land at the expense of the poor, creating social injustice in their society.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, this could apply to real estate moguls who keep buying properties, pushing out long-time residents and small businesses, or corporations that monopolize markets, leaving no room for competition.
