*Ngày thứ ba, cầu nguyện xong, hoàng hậu Ét-te bỏ áo cầu nguyện, mặc phẩm phục huy hoàng. Đẹp lộng lẫy, bà cầu khẩn Thiên Chúa là Đấng thấu suốt và cứu độ mọi người. Rồi bà đem theohai cung nữ : bà tựa vào một cô, trông thật thướt tha duyên dáng ; còn cô kia theo sau, nâng đuôi áo cho bà. Bà hết sức xinh đẹp, đôi má tươi hồng, vẻ mặt hớn hở, dễ thương, nhưng lòng đau như thắt vì khiếp sợ. Qua các cửa, bà đến trước mặt vua. Vua ngự trên ngai báu, mang trọn bộ long bào dùng trong những buổi triều yết, mình đầy vàng bạc châu báu, dáng vẻ rất đáng sợ. Vua ngẩng mặt lên nhìn, đôi mắt rực sáng, giận dữ đến cực độ. Hoàng hậu khuỵu xuống, tái mặt đi vì yếu sức ; bà dựa đầu vào cô cung nữ đi trước. Thiên Chúa làm cho vua đổi lòng, khiến vua ra dịu hiền. Từ trên ngai vàng, vua lo âu lao mình xuống, đưa cánh tay đỡ lấy bà cho đến khi bà tỉnh lại. Rồi vua lấy lời trấn an khích lệ bà : Sao thế, Ét-te ? Ta là anh của em mà ! Yên tâm đi ! Em không phải chết đâu ! Lệnh của ta chỉ áp dụng cho thường dân thôi. Lại đây em !
