Đó là lễ đền tội ; nó quả là mắc lỗi với ĐỨC CHÚA. ĐỨC CHÚA phán với ông Mô-sê rằng : Khi một người nào phạm tội và bất trung với ĐỨC CHÚA, vì đã từ chối không trả cho người đồng bào một vật ký thác, một vật gửi tay hay một vật mất trộm, hoặc vì đã bóc lột người đồng bào, hoặc vì đã từ chối không trả một vật bắt được, khi nó đã thề gian về một trong những điều trên là những tội người ta có thể phạm, thì kẻ phạm tội và mắc lỗi như thế phải trả lại vật mình đã ăn trộm, hoặc của đã bóc lột, hoặc cái đã được ký thác cho mình, hoặc vật bị mất mà mình đã bắt được, hoặc bất cứ vật nào mà nó đã thề gian là không giữ. Nó phải đền đầy đủ, cộng thêm một phần năm, và phải nộp cho chủ của, ngày mà nó dâng lễ đền tội. Nó phải đem dâng ĐỨC CHÚA lễ vật đền tội, là một con chiên đực toàn vẹn bắt từ bầy chiên, giá trị như đã quy định, nộp cho tư tế làm lễ vật đền tội.
