1 John 2:23
Afrikaans 1933/1953
What Does This Mean?
This verse from 1 John says that if someone does not accept Jesus as the Son of God, they do not truly have a relationship with God the Father either. Conversely, recognizing Jesus brings you into a relationship with the Father.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your best friend has an awesome dad who loves everyone. If you don't want to be friends with your buddy anymore, it's like saying you also don't want to meet their cool dad. But if you love hanging out with your pal, you're welcoming the dad too!
Historical Background
1 John was written by the Apostle John around AD 90-100. The letter aimed at encouraging Christians and combating false teachings about Jesus' identity as both fully God and fully human in a community facing internal divisions.
Living It Out Today
In today's world, someone might deny Jesus because of peer pressure or confusion from other beliefs. This verse encourages us to affirm our faith in Jesus openly, knowing it deepens our bond with God.
