Daniel 6:17
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
This verse describes the situation where Daniel is thrown into a den of lions. The king orders a stone to seal the mouth of the den and uses his own signet ring along with those of his lords to ensure that no one can change the outcome for Daniel.
Explained for Children
Imagine if you were playing hide-and-seek, but instead of just closing your eyes, someone put up a big rock in front of where you're hiding. Then, they used special stickers (like signet rings) from both their own hand and their friends' hands to make sure no one could move the rock until it was time for you to come out.
Historical Background
The book of Daniel was written by the prophet Daniel during his exile in Babylon around the 6th century BC. It was aimed at Jews who were facing persecution, offering hope and encouragement through stories of faithfulness despite extreme adversity.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, this can be applied to situations where we face tough decisions that others have set up against us. Like when a group decides not to include someone in their activities; Daniel shows us how to remain faithful and trust God even under such pressures.
