Genesis 22:7
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
In Genesis 22:7, Isaac asks his father Abraham where the lamb is for the burnt offering. Abraham and Isaac are on their way to Mount Moriah to sacrifice Isaac as a test of Abraham's faith. Isaac notices there is no lamb for the sacrifice, but he trusts his father will provide.
Explained for Children
Imagine you're on a trip with your dad, and he tells you it's for a special reason. On the way, you notice something missing, like a toy for a game. You ask your dad, 'Where's the toy, Dad?' and he says, 'Don't worry, we'll find a way to play.' Just like Isaac trusted his dad, you trust your dad to solve the problem.
Historical Background
This verse is part of the Old Testament, written by Moses around 1400 BC. It was written for the Israelites to understand God's command to Abraham and the importance of faith and obedience. The story reflects the cultural practice of animal sacrifices as offerings to God.
Living It Out Today
Today, when faced with a difficult task or decision, like choosing a college major or a job, you might feel unsure about the details. Like Isaac, you can ask questions and trust that the guidance or resources you need will come. This teaches us to trust in a higher plan and be open to unexpected solutions.
