Mark 1:42
Amharic New Standard Translation (አማርኛ አዲሱ መደበኛ ትርጉም) 2005
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from Mark's Gospel, Jesus heals a man with leprosy just by speaking to him. The disease leaves the man immediately as he was cleansed. This shows Jesus' power over sickness.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a really yucky stain on your favorite shirt that won't come out no matter what. But then, a super special soap comes along and poof! Just like magic, the stain is gone in an instant. That's how this man felt when Jesus made his leprosy disappear.
Historical Background
This verse was written by Mark around AD 65-70 for a predominantly Gentile audience. Leprosy was seen as both a physical and spiritual curse, making the afflicted person unclean in Jewish society.
Living It Out Today
When faced with difficult circumstances or health issues today, we can trust that Jesus has the power to heal and transform our situations just as he did for this man with leprosy. It reminds us of God's sovereignty over all things.
