Amos 1:13
Amharic Tigrinya (መፅሓፍ ቅዱስ)
What Does This Mean?
In this verse, God is speaking through the prophet Amos and says that He will punish the people of Ammon because they have done very bad things, specifically harming pregnant women in Gilead to expand their territory.
Explained for Children
Imagine if someone took toys from another kid just so they could have more space for their own. That's not nice, right? Well, God is telling us that the people of Ammon did something really mean by hurting others to get what they wanted, and He says there will be consequences for those actions.
Historical Background
Amos was a prophet who spoke around 750 BCE during a time when many nations were at war. This verse is part of his message against the people of Ammon, who lived east of Israel, warning them about their violent behavior and the resulting punishment from God.
Living It Out Today
Today, we can apply this to situations where bullies try to take things by force or hurt others to get what they want. Just like how God says there will be consequences for such actions, in our lives, those who bully often face negative outcomes as well.
