John 1:48
Amharic Tigrinya 2011
What Does This Mean?
In this verse from John's gospel, Jesus impresses Nathanael by knowing about him before he met Philip. This shows that Jesus knows everything about people even before they meet Him.
Explained for Children
Imagine if your friend knew all your favorite toys and what you were thinking just because they saw you playing in the backyard without ever talking to you. That's how amazing it was for Nathanael when Jesus knew so much about him without them meeting before!
Historical Background
John wrote this gospel around 90 AD, directed primarily at a Hellenistic audience who were familiar with Greek philosophy and thought. The text reflects the early Christian community’s effort to show that Jesus is divine.
Living It Out Today
Just as Jesus knew Nathanael before they met, today we can trust that God knows us deeply even when others don’t understand us yet. This comfort can help when we face difficult situations alone.
