Deuteronomy 2:11
Amharic Bible (መጽሐፍ ቅዱስ (የብሉይና የሐዲስ ኪዳን መጻሕፍት))
What Does This Mean?
This verse tells us about a group of people called Emims who were very tall and strong, like the Anakim. The Moabites, who lived nearby, called them Emims. The verse is part of Moses' speech to the Israelites, describing the different peoples they would encounter as they traveled.
Explained for Children
Imagine you have a big brother who is much taller than you. The Emims were like that, but even bigger! They were so big and strong that people were scared of them. It's like how the Moabites were scared of the Emims and called them by a special name.
Historical Background
This verse is from the book of Deuteronomy, written by Moses around 1400 BC. The audience was the Israelites who were about to enter the Promised Land. The cultural setting was one where the Israelites were preparing to conquer and settle in a land inhabited by various peoples.
Living It Out Today
In modern times, we can think of this verse when facing something or someone who seems overwhelmingly large or powerful. Just like the Israelites were encouraged to see these giants as part of their journey, we can approach our challenges with confidence in our own journey.
